Raising the Bar for Clinicians

The award-winning Ivenix Infusion System was designed to meet the actual needs of front-line clinicians by focusing on task efficiency and safety. This pump is innovative in the way infusions are administered; it helps improve usability and may reduce manual, error-prone operations.

With its out-of-the-box solutions, Qt technology greatly helped achieve this exceptional and innovative product design. Qt's robust application development environment not only provides all core functionalities needed to build medical UI applications for multiple targets, it also enables rapid deployment to the actual embedded devices, that can be directly used for functional and usability testing.

Such combination of ready-made UI app building blocks that are suitable for the medical industry and early testing on target devices allowed the Ivenix team to focus their efforts on user-experience to create a safe, effective, and efficient user interface.

Squish has been a great enabler as well. The ability to test our device in situ, rather than relying on UI emulators, allowed us to improve device quality during the development phase, resulting in a higher quality product delivered to customers.

Setting New Levels of
Simplicity, Safety, and Reliability

Fresenius Kabi is another case where Qt end-to-end product design, development, and testing tools were key success factors.

Qt design and development tools were used since the early prototyping stage. Thus, the move to a production codebase within the same Qt framework happened with minimal disruption to the development workflow. At the same time, testing with Squish in situ—instead of using emulators—allowed early detection of issues and rapid iterations for improving quality and usability.

When health and well-being are at stake, there can be no compromise on the quality, safety, and security of the UI software. Qt provides Fresenius Kabi with efficient tooling not only for designing and implementing effective medical devices but also for the extensive, automated testing needed to define new industry standards.

With their intuitive interface, extensive APIs, and stable performance, the Qt framework and tools allowed the Fresenius Kabi team to ship their award-winning medical device efficiently and on-time, while delivering the high standard of quality, safety, and usability that the industry demands.
