Ford has been using Qt to take the testing of new features inside their cars into the virtual space. This makes it much more efficient to place and move different elements, like an infotainment system, to optimize the user experience compared to doing it with actual hardware. Ford's Jeff Cotter shows us how they integrate communication between Qt, Unreal Engine, and MATLAB/Simulink. Using the Qt WebGL streaming, a Qt GUI such as the infotainment system can then be displayed inside of a 3D vehicle cockpit, which will give a user a rich experience of using an automotive feature. Speaker: Jeff Cotter, Automotive Feature Engineer, Ford Jeffrey Cotter joined Ford Motor Company in 2016 and is a Feature Engineer. Jeff is responsible for requirement modeling, development and validation of the Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature. He graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech, a B.S. in Mechanical and Process Engineering from the Technische Universität Darmstadt, and an M.S in Computer and Information Science from the University of Michigan – Dearborn.
