    The educational license allows students and teachers to use commercial Qt for learning purposes – for free.

  • 13.11. Does the educational license come with professional support?

    The educational license does not come with professional support from Qt engineers. However, you can get access to our free learning materials.

  • 13.12. Do Qt Educational Licenses include MCUs?

    Qt Educational Licenses do support selected MCUs development kits. For details which MCU hardware is included please look in to the product Documentation, it varies between software releases (in new releases old hardware may be dropped and new added).

  • 13.13. What if my learning project turns into a commercial product?

    In case you start developing a learning project with a Qt Educational license, and it later turns into a commercial product, you need to either a) get a commercial Qt license or b) start using the open source based Qt Community Edition and comply with the corresponding open source terms and conditions.

  • 13.2. What do I get in the Qt Educational license package?

    You can choose from two license packages or have both:

    1. Qt Edu for Designers includes Qt Design Studio Enterprise for creating functioning user interfaces.
    2. Qt Edu for Developers includes Qt for Device Creation Professional license (including Qt for Application Development and Qt Design Studio Professional) with one MPU target device (Rasberry Pi) and selected MCU targets (may vary between releases).
  • 13.3. Who is eligible for the Qt Educational license?

    Students and teachers (and other staff) with an active email address from a higher educational institute. 

  • 13.4. How can I get Qt Educational license?

    By filling in the form that you can find on this page. You need to have an active edu email address. After verifying the email address, you will be automatically granted access to the products and get installation instructions.

  • 13.5. What if my email address is not recognised as an edu address?

    You get an error message if their email address is not valid. The error message contains a link to another form where you can request that your educational institution is added to the list. This will be processed manually. Alternatively, you may also always use open source based Qt Community Edition.

  • 13.6. How much does the Qt Educational license cost?

    The licenses are free of charge.

  • 13.7. How long does the educational license last?

    12 months. After that, you can renew the license through the same process.

  • 13.8. What happens at the end of the license term?

    Qt Educational license is a term-based license and needs to be renewed at the end of the term to continue use. You can renew the license through the same process as initially.

  • 13.9. How many educational licenses may I get?

    The educational license is personal. You can have one license per product.

  • 13.9. What are other limitations of the Qt Educational license?

    The educational licenses are for learning purposes only. You cannot use the licenses for commercial or professional purposes, for those use cases you need to either purchase a commercial license or use open source bases Qt Community Edition.
