MISRA C++:2023 (TC1:2026) Supported From Day One

MISRA has just published the Technical Corrigenda 1 for MISRA C++:2023. Per the Working Group's own foreword, TC1:2026 doesn't introduce any new guidelines, it's fully equivalent to MISRA C++:2023, but it is resolving ambiguities and issues the Working Group, tool vendors, and users identified since the original 2023 publication.

Fixes Range From Terminology to Edge Cases 

One notable example: the original document used the term "assignment" in a way that clashed with how the C++ Standard itself defines it. Therefore MISRA introduced the new term, converting transfer, and updated over a dozen rules to match.

Elsewhere, TC1 loosens a rule that had unintentionally ruled out CRTP, a widely used and safe C++ pattern, and closes small gaps like missing coverage for
fwide and the temporary-buffer functions.


As the Working Group notes, none of this changes what's compliant and what isn't at the guideline level. Though tool reporting may shift as a result of the clarified wording.

 

Corrigenda like TC1:2026 are where the MISRA community's real-world experience feeds back into the standard. Questions and edge cases that come up in practice get resolved in the rule text itself. That feedback loop is exactly what keeps MISRA useful for teams working with it every day.
