The Test Center team is happy to announce the release of Test Center 4.2. We're excited to introduce the new Execution API, which significantly enhances the flexibility of test plan integration with CI systems. This release also brings a modern dark theme to improve your testing experience, along with notable performance improvements.
Execution API: Streamlined CI Integration
With Test Center 4.2, we're introducing the new Execution API that simplifies integrating test plans with your CI system. This API makes it easier to manage test selection for CI runs and balance testing loads across multiple instances. While we've optimized the integration for GitLab, the API is designed to work seamlessly with any CI system that supports similar concepts.
The Execution API extends the test orchestration capabilities introduced in version 4.0. Previously, you could only leverage Test Center's orchestration features when your Squish test scripts were configured to work with remote squishservers. Now, the API supports Squish tests regardless of whether they're written for local or remote execution, giving you complete flexibility in how you structure your test automation.
This enhancement reduces the complexity of selecting which tests to execute on which testing nodes and provides a more straightforward path to integrating Test Center into your existing CI/CD pipelines.

Dark Theme: A Modern Visual Experience
Responding to popular demand from our users, Test Center 4.2 introduces a new dark theme alongside an updated light theme. The interface now automatically follows your browser or operating system's theme preference, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience that adapts to your environment. You can also manually override this setting to choose between light, dark, or system default modes.
This visual update not only modernizes Test Center's appearance but also reduces eye strain, making it more comfortable to monitor and analyze your test results throughout the day.

Additional Improvements
Test Center 4.2 also delivers performance improvements that enhance responsiveness, particularly when handling multiple parallel uploads and working with larger databases. These optimizations ensure the user interface remains responsive even during intensive operations.
