Qt Design Studio 3.6 Released

We are happy to announce the release of Qt Design Studio 3.6.

Qt Design Studio is a UI design and development tool that enables designers and developers to rapidly prototype and develop complex UIs. Qt Design Studio outputs a functional user interface as code so developers can use it as-is, making integration and cooperation a breeze. To get an impression you should watch this video.

For detailed information about Qt Design Studio, visit the online documentation page.

For this release, we concentrated on fixing bugs and our backend which will enable new features and improvements in future versions. We also enjoyed our summer vacation, therefore we did not really add any larger new features. For example, our model in the backend now supports QML behaviors, which means we can add front-end support for those in future versions.

Building Qt Design Studio

If you want to build Qt Design Studio yourself we finally provide a super repository that allows building the community version of Qt Design Studio. The instruction for the super repository can be found here.
Please also refer to the instructions on how to build Qt Creator.  The super repository mainly takes care of Qt Design Studio branding (for example, application name, icons, and versions) and builds the required plugins. The source code itself is part of the Qt Creator and we use the 8.0 branch for Qt Design Studio 3.6.
The repository also contains an example plugin for Qt Design Studio. If built with
Qt 6.3.1 the plugin is compatible with the released binary version of Qt Design Studio. For the plugin to work it has to have the correct version number, something the super repository also takes care of.
The example plugin serves as a reference on how to create your own Qt Design Studio plugins.
