How to Learn Qt in 2026: Free Courses, Tutorials & What's New for Developers

As we wrap up the year, we’re excited to share what’s been happening in Qt Learning and what’s available for developers in 2026! Our mission is to keep expanding and improving our learning resources to support developers, students, and future talent worldwide. 

Qt Academy – New Free Online Coding Courses  

Qt Academy, our eLearning platform open to everyone, has grown significantly since its launch in spring 2023. Today, we have more than 54,000 learners and over 120 courses available. Our content is well-received, with an impressive average rating of 4.7 out of 5.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’ll keep creating new content, including free, intermediate and advanced courses on QML and Coco usage, to name just a few. We’ve also started publishing Qt Academy videos on YouTube, beginning with QtTips in Shorts format. Next up: coding course videos from the beginner QML learning path - and more to come! 

Free Educational Licensing for Students and Educators 

Qt Academy is just one part of our learning ecosystem. We also provide educational licenses for students and educators, supporting both development and design needs. Getting an educational license is simple; just fill out the form and follow the provided steps.   

Educational Licensing is widely used with nearly 50,000 active licenses in more than 3600 educational institutions worldwide.  

Qt University & Talent Network: Building the Next Generation of Qt Talent 

Beyond licensing, we are also developing a university and talent network, focused on fostering the next generation of Qt Talent.  As part of the network activities, we were thrilled to host the second Qt;Athon coding competition for students this fall! The first round attracted 137 participants and teams from 32 countries, who tackled three small coding challenges. From there, the top 10 teams advanced to the second round, where they faced the ultimate challenge: building an application based on detailed project briefs. 

By the deadline, we received eight impressive submissions—and we can’t wait to share the results soon. Stay tuned! 

We strengthened our ties with academia through exciting collaborations with Aalto University and University of Zagreb (with Mälardalen University, and Milano Polytechnic), and hosted guest lectures at the University of Helsinki and Aalto University. 

Demonstrate Your Expertise with Official Qt Certifications 

This fall, we launched the Official Qt Certification Platform with its first test: Qt 6.8 Foundation. Since then, we’ve added more tests — and there’s plenty more coming!  
 
The official Qt Developer Certificates are a powerful way to demonstrate your expertise in Qt. Certification helps you to build professional credibility backed by an official credential, validate your knowledge and gain recognition for your skills and to stand out in a competitive job market.
