THE IAR EMBEDDED DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM

One Subscription, Full Access

An IAR platform subscription gives you access to every solution and product in our portfolio — so your teams can scale development freely, ship with more confidence, and simplify compliance.

IAR's platform is:

  • Architecture- and device-agnostic — not locked to a single toolchain or target
  • Cloud-ready — built for enterprise-scale deployment
  • Safety-first — functional safety included as standard
  • Native on Linux and Windows — the same toolchain across environments

How It Works

Your subscription combines two kinds of access, which you can mix and match as your organization's needs change:

  • Named users — seats assigned to individual developers, giving each person the right tools whenever they need them.
  • Build capacity — resources for automated build and CI/CD pipelines, with no interruptions or usage limits.

All supported architectures are included from day one, and you can add new ones at any time during your subscription term. You can also reallocate your build capacity across pipelines as demand shifts — putting more capacity where it's needed speeds up builds, clears backlogs faster, and keeps quality high.

Two Licenses Types, One Subscription

User license — built for developers
Named users connect through the cloud, so login credentials are validated over an internet connection even though the software itself runs locally. Users can be reassigned at any time, and offline access is available for legacy versions.

Capacity license — built for CI/CD and automated builds
Capacity is enabled through cloud connectivity by default, with on-premises deployment available where required.

FAQ

How do named user and capacity licenses work together?

Named user licenses give individual developers dedicated, secure access (with SSO/MFA) for day-to-day local development. Capacity licenses allocate shared compute for automated CI/CD pipelines. Together, they cover both personal development work and large-scale automation under a single licensing model.

What's different between License Management System v.2 (LMS2) and License Management System Cloud (LMSC)?

LMS2 required customers to manage their own licensing infrastructure and locked licenses to individual machines, which limited flexibility. LMSC is hosted by IAR in the cloud and replaces that model with flexible user- and capacity-based licensing that supports dynamic allocation, improved CI/CD automation, and remote access through a self-service portal, whether you run IAR tools in the cloud, on-premises, or in a hybrid setup.

How does LMSC improve flexibility and scalability?

Because licenses are sized by team and capacity rather than tied to machines, LMSC lets you scale dynamically across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid setups, and integrates directly into CI/CD workflows.

How does LMSC simplify license management?

LMSC gives you a cloud-hosted platform for managing named user and capacity licenses, with flexible allocation, remote access, and CI/CD integration, without the burden of maintaining your own licensing infrastructure.
