Commercial Qt Options
Every Qt user needs a designated developer license, either for Application Development or Device Creation, depending on what type of product you are developing. In addition, every device designed or developed with Commercial Qt needs a Distribution license.
Qt for Application Development
For creating software products using any of Qt’s products, tools or libraries.
Qt for Device Creation & Distribution
For creating and distributing hardware products using the Qt software libraries.
Qt for Small Business
Available both for Application Development and Device Creation at a considerable discount for organizations below a maximum annual revenue.
The Commercial Qt licenses are subscription-based, and typically invoiced as pre-payment at subscription start date. The subscription is for either one year or three years with auto-renewal.
Additional Support and Maintenance
Most Commercial Qt licenses come with Standard Support and provided Maintenance releases and patches during the release’s maintenance period. To expand that, Qt Support offers various services for both priority support and for extending the support lifetime.

Choosing between Commercial Qt License Types
There are two main types of Commercial Qt developer licenses: Application Development and Device Creation. Which one you need depends on what type of product you are developing.
Professional vs Enterprise
Both the Application Development and Device Creation licenses come in two variants: Professional and Enterprise.
The Professional licenses cover key foundational functionalities, whereas the Enterprise licenses include more comprehensive functionalities, additional features, services, and support for broader use cases. For example, the Enterprise edition may add machine-to-machine (M2M) communication libraries or support for safety-critical devices.

Qt for Application Development (AD)
Qt for Application Development is a developer license used to create applications that run exclusively on desktop and mobile operating systems as one of many applications (such as email, browser, games, office apps, etc.).
The AD license can’t be used to create devices powered by Qt-based software. In addition, it can’t be used in installations where the developed software is the key component in, for example, controlling a machine, such as in a factory setup - those require a Device Creation license.
Within AD, you can choose between Professional and Enterprise depending on whether you need only the key functionalities, or a more comprehensive set.

Qt for Device Creation (DC)
Qt for Device Creation is a developer license needed for each Qt user to build hardware devices that incorporate, integrate, or link to parts of Qt libraries. It’s also needed in cases where the main functionality of your hardware product depends on Qt-based software, and it can be used to create both applications and devices.
Distribution Licenses
In addition to the developer licenses for each user, you need a Distribution license for each device.

About the Distribution Licenses
The Distribution licenses are required for distributing devices that use Qt, in addition to the Device Creation developer licenses. The Distribution licenses must be purchased latest 60 days before devices are shipped or placed into inventory, and they are based on device features and volumes.
The Distribution licenses come with options for tier pricing and pre-defined packs.
Tier Pricing With Perpetual Validity
The tier pricing allows for flexible scalability in your device volumes. The device-specific pricing changes by thresholds ranging between 10,000 -100,000 pcs.
Pre-Defined Packs With Permanent Validity
You can choose between packs ranging from 5 to 5000 devices. The licenses have permanent validity and perpetual rights.
Pre-Defined Packs With 1 Year validity
You can choose between packs ranging from 5 to 5000 devices. The licenses have 1 year usage validity (after which they expire if not renewed) and perpetual rights.
